Spring Bear

Well another Spring hunting season over. I was not lucky enough to take a Grizzly, but did end up taking a small Black Bear. Another photo of a nice Bull Elk but his antlers are a little short yet to scratch his whatever.

Slow Spring

Went out to the trapline today to check conditions for Spring Beaver trapping , but the creeks have barely started opening up yet, and there is still around 2-3 feet of compacted snow on the roads. Found the remains of 3 different Wolf kills. Two Moose and one Elk, I was fortunate enough to recover the Elk skull and rack. Its really unfortunate for the Elk they just started coming into this area about seven years ago, so the wildlife biologists opened up a hunting season for them, and so many Wolves with so much snow, they barely stand a chance.

Grizzly

Well finally time for holidays after a long Winter.
I have the whole month of May off, and I am heading out in a few days to go Beaver trapping
and Grizzly hunting.

The Grizzly in the photo was taken a few days ago at the last bridge we installed for the season.

Working in the Yukon right now, saw these Bison on the side of the Alaska Highway while driving up here between Muncho Lake park and Liard Hotsprings.
Not really impressed with the Yukon so far, we have a lot more beautiful scenery in British Columbia. The hotels we have stayed in have been quite rough and want extra money if you require beds to be made or towels to be changed daily.
I am sure though there are many beautiful places to see up here if you have the time to travel around, with your own RV.

A day out with the family

Took the kids out for a day trip, the one photo is of Pass lake around one and a half hours from home. The kids caught some real nice Bull trout but they are protected and had to be released. The dogs treed a Black Bear, and I took a photo of a Spruce Grouse hen.
